WATERAID

In the midst of the climate crisis, clean water is hope.

With so much to see and do, everyone’s Glastonbury is different. But there’s two things you’re guaranteed to do – drink water and use a loo.

Whether the rain pours or the sun beats down, we’ll be there to make sure there’s clean water and good toilets galore. It’ll be one to remember, for all the right reasons.

But we all know our climate is changing, and we all know that the forecast isn’t good. We’re living in a climate crisis.

Climate change, and the extreme weather it’s causing is making things even worse for the hundreds of millions of people across the world who are already struggling to get clean water. Every year, people, especially women and girls, spend hours walking to collect water – they’re missing out on going to school, going to work and following their ambitions.

Longer and more severe droughts mean wells and springs run dry. More frequent and extreme flooding pollute water sources. And either extremely dry or wet weather is undoing the progress made to build water and sanitation systems, making taps and toilets unusable.

Clean water gives people hope. Decent toilets and good hygiene help people stay healthy and reach their potential. These are more vital than ever as our climate changes.

Hope is powerful, but we can’t just hope that one day everyone, everywhere will have these basic human rights. We’re making it happen – every day the communities we work with are changing their lives thanks to clean water. Together with our partners and supporters, we’re telling governments what needs to change, and showing them how to change it, on a monumental scale.

This is #OurClimateFight, and it belongs to all of us.
